Well Look Who's Back
I know what you're thinking.
"You haven't blogged here since September. You think you can just waltz right back into our lives and post pictures of your cat and we'll still care?"
Look, I'm sorry. I promise to blog more frequently. And if you haven't already done so, sign up for an RSS reader (I use Google Reader). It's the best way to read and manage multiple websites. Then you'll be alerted when my blog has been updated and you won't be pissed everytime you come here and see my stupid Hawaiian Wall again.
The real reason I'm coming back is that John Mayer stopped blogging. And since my friend Liz asked me to pick up his slack, here I am. Now on with the blogging.
Lately I've come to the realization that I'm somewhat of a nerd. I didn't get bullied in grade school, and I'm not still a virgin (accidentally grazing a woman's breast on the subway counts, right?), but I'm still pretty geeky. I watch Attack of the Show everyday. I constantly read technology blogs like Engadget and Gizmodo. I have a slight obsession with anything David Cronenberg makes, including his lesser known films, like Scanners and Videodrome. I call movies "films". I come very close to tears when a friend or family member who doesn't know any better gets me a full screen DVD. As anyone who has heard my voicemail knows, I own an iPhone and it is the love of my life. I stack cups. I have three plastic guitars, three microphones, and one plastic drum set in my living room, ready to be used with my karaoke, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero video games. I'm a complete comedy nerd. I even post YouTube videos of commercials starring my favorite funny people for a comedy nerd website.
So I thought it was pretty safe to classify me as a nerd. Until I came across a website called CoolMiniOrNot.com, via BoingBoing (another nerdy site, proven by the fact that they think the pictures on CoolMiniOrNot.com are "nothing short of breathtaking"). This is a site where people post pictures of miniature figurines that they have spent dozens of hours painting or sculpting. Readers then vote on the coolness of these sculptures and even have a chance to buy them. I'm not making fun of these guys, I'm just relieved to find out there is a level of dorkdom that I will never reach.
In other news, I still have the best job in the world (watching TV all day), and I still post my favorite clips from the week's best and worst television every weekend. You can find this week's installment here. And here's my favorite clip from this week: it's "Oprah Out of Context."
